Markings and Signage
Asphalt markings and signage (striping) are typically used in parking lot for both designation purposes and guiding. Before striping a parking lot, it is important to evaluate the lot to determine the best way to accommodate traffic flow and placement of the parking spots. In areas of higher foot traffic (such as a shopping center or grocery store) you may want to consider adding pedestrian crosswalks.
Directional/Designated Markings
The most common direction markings in a parking lot include all or most of the following:
- ADA-compliant markings such as dedicated parking spaces that are handicapped-accessible
- Curb and/or asphalt markings to indicate fire lanes
- Arrows showing the direction traffic should follow, for example, left/right signals and one-way markings
- No parking areas or loading zones
- Special markings including traffic crossing, stop
signs, enter/exit, and speed limits - many types of thermoplastic preforms that can be made into pretty much anything
When asphalt Markings & Signage are used appropriately they make navigating through parking areas more effective for drivers. Keeping these markings visible helps to eliminate distractions caused by confusing unmarked spaces.
